History
The Momentary Princess was created by the Witness in the year 2084. It contains the archival information about humanity's history.[1]
The Momentary Princess was sent into the past and appeared in the same area in Leipzig, Germany every 27-29 years[2] for a few minutes. Its first recorded appearance was in 1897 then Jean-Luc LeBeau almost managed to obtain it.[1]
In 1916, the Momentary Princess was found by a young soldier Wolfgang von Strucker. He touched it and saw his future as he became the leader of the Hydra.[1]
The Princess appeared again during World War II. Strucker, Candra, Jean-Luc, and Nick Fury's Howling Commandos tried to get it, but Jean-Luc claimed it first.[1]
In the present, Jean-Luc sent his foster son, Gambit to Leipzig. Famous archaeologist Sekmeht Conoway and Strucker's childrens, Fenris, also hunted for the gem, but while they all fought, the Princess appeared and disappeared again.[1]
Shortly before the birth of the first new mutant since M-Day, Mister Sinister sent the Marauders to kill all precogs and obtain or destroy objects that grant the knowledge about the future.[3] Cyclops later mentioned what the Momentary Princess was one of these objects,[4] but given its nature and a short time window for each of its appearances, it is not known if it was destroyed, or the Marauders simply prevented anyone from obtaining it in time.Properties
Pseudo-Precognition: The Momentary Princess gives a touching it vision about their personal future.[1]
Notes
- It is unclear how the Momentary Princess became the target of the Marauders. All of its previous appearances happened 27-29 years apart, but the latest when Gambit, Fenris, and Sekmeht Conoway tried to get it happened only a few years prior to M-Day, so the Princess should not have appeared again for decades. Moreover, it only appears for few minutes each time and provides knowledge about person touching it's own personal future, so the chances for it to provide any crucial information about the first mutant's birth were minuscule to nonexistent.
- It was shown in X-Men (Vol. 2) #202 what Arclight destroyed the Wohnhaus Strucker in Dresden, Germany. But most likely it was unrelated to the Momentary Princess, as it previously always appeared in the same area of Leipzig, not Dresden.
