WandaVision is a superhero mystery drama television miniseries created by Jac Schaeffer and produced by Marvel Studios for Disney+. Set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe after the events of Avengers: Endgame (2019), it follows Wanda Maximoff and Vision living a seemingly idyllic life in the town of Westview, until their reality begins to shift through various forms representing different decades of sitcom tropes and homages.
The nine-episode series was released on Disney+ in 2021 as the beginning of Phase Four of the MCU. It proved hugely popular and was widely discussed by fans and praised by critics for its homages to past sitcoms, themes of grief and nostalgia, and the performances of its cast, though the finale received more mixed reactions.
After the popularity of WandaVision, several characters had their storylines directly continued in other MCU projects, including the film Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022), the miniseries Agatha All Along (2024), and the upcoming miniseries VisionQuest (2026).

History
The series was originally slated to follow after the release of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier on Disney+. However, production delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic held back the latter's release, making WandaVision Marvel Studios' premier series on Disney+.[2]
On November 12 2020, it was announced that the series would debut on January 15, 2021.[3] The series premiered on that date with its first two episodes, which made it the Marvel Studios property that officially began Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
After the series finale aired in March 2021, series director Matt Shakman revealed that Marvel Studios initially planned on having the first three episodes premiere simultaneously on Disney+ but the third episode was delayed to the following week due to COVID-19 pandemic affecting production on the finale. Delaying the episode allowed the crew an extra week to work on the finale, which was only finished two weeks prior to when it aired.[4]Full Cast

According to head writer Jac Schaeffer, the in-universe commercials were going to be messages from Strange to Wanda Maximoff, and there were also talks of having Cumberbatch appear in one of the ads. Strange's appearance was scrapped since it would have taken away from Wanda, according to Kevin Feige.[13]
